Palm is now offering its new Centro as an unlocked smartphone. This is surely a move to keep its Treo users from moving to iPhone and Blackberry that have been gaining popularity in the recent months. This is Palm’s smallest smartphone to date. One thing that even die-hard Treo fans find hard to accept is Centro’s lack of support for WiFi.
The unlocked GSM version of Centro can be used with any carrier that supports the quad-band GSM wireless standard. The Verizon version supports Dual-band CDMA2000 EvDO.
