Cloud Computing At The Speed Of The Network

The recently published Technical Report on Cloud Computing from UC Berkeley lists 10 obstacles/opportunities related to cloud computing, of which “Data Transfer Bottleneck” ranks #4. As I wrote in my earlier post, network bandwidth is widely considered to be a critical resource for heterogeneous computing.

The obstacles discussed are multi-dimensional. Besides data transfer bottlenecks, they include lack of availability of . . . → Read More: Cloud Computing At The Speed Of The Network

Cloud- and Heterogenous Computing Will Stretch Network Performance

As I was browsing through my Google Reader, an article in Network Performance Daily caught my eye. It talks about Gartner’s list of the “10 most important strategic technologies of 2009.”

One of the technologies listed is heterogeneous computing. Over the decades, computing has evolved from tasks running on a single computer to applications that span multiple . . . → Read More: Cloud- and Heterogenous Computing Will Stretch Network Performance
